This is a beautiful slice of a Woolly mammoth tooth.
The top slice of the tooth shows the natural grinding surface and when flipped over to the other side, intricate patterns are revealed from the original enamel and dentine layers.
A mammoth generally went through 5 sets of molars, the first molars were about the size of those of a human, around 0.51 inches, the third set were about 6 inches long, and the fifth were about 12 inches long. The molars grew larger with each replacement.
